6 things Pitchbook taught me in the last 30 days

  1. The biggest VC deal was in India. Udaan, provider of a network centric B2B trade platform intended to make online trading simple, safe and convenient raised $585M dollars, giving it a valuation north of $2.5B

  2. People love insect-based foods. Apparently insects for human consumption are a cheaper alternative of protein to meat, and have less impact on the environment. They are usually found in beer, pasta, energy bars and pancakes. Basically everywhere, except my pantry - no thank you. Fun fact: There is 118 companies in this space, with close to $22M capital invested.

  3. Anti-Aging and AgeTech is the new black. This space is young, but it’s on the rise… because who doesn’t want to live forever? Read more on this space here and here.

  4. Median Post Valuation and Deal Size is on the rise

5. Ghost Kitchens are actually a thing. Also known as cloud kitchens, dark kitchens, virtual restaurants, or restaurants as a service (RAAS), ghost kitchens are stripped down commercial kitchens that function purely as a hub for online deliveries and catering.

6. You can't snooze SleepTech. A vertical that focuses on improving the quality of a person's sleep is becoming a thing. It just needs it’s morning coffee first. As do I. Happy Monday!
