Storytelling, Ikigai & The Last Dance

  1. One to help those with fundraising. “VC’s are marketers, not financiers. Why storytelling is more important than financial acumen in Venture Capital.”

  2. An eye opening story by a founder, now also investor, who talks about his journey failing to build a billion dollar business. Sahil is awesome.  https://sahillavingia.com/reflecting

  3. I recently restarted reading Traction. A great marketing book about growth experiments and details about all the possible channels and how to choose one. Really really good. Don’t have time to read it? Here’s a summary: https://link.medium.com/64z41VjtK8

  4. I did a talk to some high-school students last week and taught them about Ikigai. If I haven’t told you about it, I can’t express how important it is. Go learn about it here and do it with your team. Or even your friends. It’s a great exercise to figure out your purpose in life or “reason for being”.

  5. The Last Dance, (Miniseries on Netflix about Michael Jordan and the Bulls) was remarkable. I really encourage you to watch it, whether you love basketball or not. Two main take aways for me were:

    • It’s all about the team (like in startups) – even Jordan felt like he wasn’t enough and needed Pippen and others to help him win championships.

    • Be present. It’s not about next year or next time, but about now.
